There's more to life than just work. If your career demands a significant amount of time and energy, it can be helpful to have a framework in place for managing other areas of your life.
Many people are familiar with the 80/20 principle, but an even more extreme approach is the 4/64 principle (credits to James Altucher). This means mean that you ONLY need 4% of the inputs to get 64% of the outcome.
Two key areas to consider beyond your career are relationships and health. Here’s how I currently manage mine when I am busy with work.
Health
Get 8 hours of sleep every night.
Practice jump ropes 2 to 3 times per week
Exercise every day, even if it's just walking 0.5 miles around the neighborhood.
Eating at restaurants or ordering takeouts is only allowed twice per week.
Relationships
Hang out with someone in real life at least once every two weeks.
Hit up someone I haven't talked to in a while at least once a month.
Hit up one of my best friends at least once every two weeks.
(Note: I'm an introvert, so I have fewer needs in this area than most people)
