I am not a big fan of the word "passion".
People seem to use that word very lightly.
I met many people who say they are passionate about something, but their actions don't match their words.
There is the software engineer who wants to make a living being a musician. However, she ends up going home every night and watches comedy shows on Netflix.
There is the cashier from Walmart who says he is passionate about drawing comic strips. Instead, he spends most of his free time playing online games with his buddies on Discord.
If you look at the people who are able to make a career out of what they enjoy doing, it didn't happen because of passion. It happened because they worked hard to make their dreams a reality.
Let's be clear though. I am not saying hardworking people are not passionate. I am just saying the word "passion" and "hard work" don't always go hand in hand.
I am going to end this short rant with a quote by Mark Cuban:
"Don’t follow your passions, follow your effort."
