Wassup guys and girls.
I hope you are all having a nice week!
This is one of those emails where I share three things I learned recently that I think are kind of cool.
Do This Next Time You Are Feeling Anxious 😖
Whether you are getting ready for a first date or walking past a haunted house, Professor Andrew Huberman recommends a breathing technique that will help you calm down:
Breathe in twice quickly through your nose.
Once you can’t take any more air in, slowly breathe it out through your mouth.
Repeat the process one to three times.
Here’s a short video that shows you how to do it (Skip to 2:00 if you only want to see the demonstration).
Razors (Not the Shaving Kind) 🪒
Razors are rules of thumb made up by smart people to help them make decisions quickly. I recently found a long tweet that is full of these razors.
Here are two that really stood out to me:
Luck Razor - If you are debating between two close options, pick the one that is most likely to give you more options later on.
High Agency Razor - If you are unsure who to work with or hire, pick the person that has the best chances of breaking you out of a 3rd world prison.
If You Are Not Sure What Do With Your Life 🤷
Cliff Weitzman, founder of Speechify.com, recommends doing these three things:
Read a lot of biographies of interesting people.
Try out a bunch of things that pique your interest.
Do a lot of journaling to reflect on what you’ve read and what you’ve done.
If you liked today’s email, leave a nice comment.
As always, thanks for reading!
